Switch to Digital Television Service before Feb 17, 2009!

On February 8, 2006, President Bush signed a bill that would require all analog television broadcast transmissions to be replaced with digital transmissions by February 17, 2009. So what does this mean? Well, any TV connected to a cable or satellite set-top box will continue to work just fine. If you watch over-the-air TV broadcasts, or subscribe to analog cable service you will forced to pay the cable company extra for their digital service or subscribe to satellite television which in most cases is a lot cheaper than the cable company. Fortunately, all versions of the analog shutoff legislation proposed so far have included significant funds — at least a billion dollars or so — to help owners of analog TVs purchase these inexpensive converter boxes. The new boxes will enable analog TV owners to view over-the-air digital broadcasts on their old TVs.
